The new VICSWIM Summer Kidz program will be officially launched by the Hon. Hugh Delahunty, Minister for Sport and Recreation and Veterans’ Affairs at the Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre, Hamilton on Friday 5 October at 10.00am.
This much loved program is being financially supported by the Baillieu Government at a cost of $1.6 million over four years, to increase participation and access to valuable aquatic education and water safety skills for children, especially in rural and regional Victoria.
‘Vic’, the VICSWIM Summer Kidz mascot will be there to help the Minister officially declare the online enrolments for the January 2013 program open. Eager young children will then go through their paces as part of a special VICSWIM Summer Kidz lesson.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase this iconic community aquatic education and water safety program and at just $25 for five 40-minute lessons, just about everyone can afford to give their kids these life saving skills,” said ARV CEO, Mr Ian Swan.
The VICSWIM Summer Kidz program runs across Victoria at over 100 pools and open water locations from the 7th-25th January and is designed to align with both the educational goals of schools and to promote the Play it Safe by the Water message.
Online enrolments opened Monday 1 October 2012.
