Over 25 people from across Victoria attended the inaugural Aquatic Education and Learn to Swim Coordinator Forum on July 3. Representatives from organisations such as YMCA, Belgravia Leisure, Life Saving Victoria, the Victorian AUSTSWIM State Advisory Committee, plus local government and private swim schools ensured a wide range of knowledge and experience was shared.This informal forum allows aquatic education and learn to swim program coordinators to meet to: discuss operational matters, share information, problem solve and enhance industry connections. It also aims to ensure that ARV has an appreciation of current issues concerning both local government and private industry providers that it can act on where necessary to enhance overall industry outcomes.
One of the key topics of conversation came about due to recent workshop cancellations. As a result, the industry was asked about what was desired in terms of professional development for aquatic facilities.
